Center for Learning and Resilience

The Center for Learning and Resilience, BCOE’s newest facility located in Chico across from Chico Junior High, provides a welcoming space where young children, families, and caregivers find connection, hope, and support. Grounded in the understanding that early experiences shape lifelong outcomes, the Center helps children build strong foundations for learning and well-being while strengthening the adults and professionals who care for them.

Through counseling, playgroups, case management, and family education, families gain access to resources and relationships that help them thrive. Educators and community partners benefit from trauma-informed training, coaching, and professional development that enhance their capacity to nurture every child’s potential.

Completed in winter 2024 and opened in early 2025, the Center’s state-of-the-art facility was designed with children and families at its heart. Supported by funding from SH Cowell Foundation and First 5 Butte County Children and Families Commission, the Center serves as the hub for Early Education Programs and Services (EEPS), Early Childhood Mental Health (ECMH) team. The Center offers trauma-responsive and inclusive early childhood services. These include topic specific playgroups, family/caregiver supports, family events, and professional development for early educators.

Unique to the Center are co-located internal and external partnerships including BCOE’s special education Early Start, Schools and Community Wellness, First 5 Butte and Cloverleaf Family Counseling and Cloverleaf Enrichment.

The Center stands as a testament to partnership, persistence, and the shared vision of a community where every child and family can heal, learn, and thrive.
